Year round fun for the kiddos! It doesn’t matter if it is summer or winter, this is a fun way to keep them occupied and away from the television and video games.
The Grandchildren love to come to Nana and Papa’s house and we love them coming! They have a small play house in the back and the dishes go missing or get eaten up by the lawn mower on occasion. Every few years, it is time to replenish the dishes.
This year, we went to Wal-Mart and bought their $10 fake food package and then to the Dollar Tree where they had $10 to spend on dishes and such…they had such fun picking out plates, cups and utensils. We could have headed over to the Thrift Store as well, but we were close to the Dollar Tree so we just stopped in there.
They were so excited to have new dishes and food to play with in their house. We took it to the next level by making a menu of the exact items that were in the food package. They almost had as much fun laying it all out and telling me what they wanted on the menu and how much they wanted to charge.
The Results…….a Menu to Paisley’s Diner!
They had hours of fun, taking orders, preparing the food and of course charging us! I have to say the service was pretty poor and the food was very hard….but the fun and smiles were all worth it!
So next time you are looking for something to keep your kids entertained and even add a little educational math in there, making them use those skills to add up your ticket! Go and buy some fake food and make a menu!
