Ft. Cobb Lake, Ft. Cobb Oklahoma
Dates we camped there: May 24-27, 2019
Website: https://www.travelok.com/state-parks/2822
What we Paid: $22.00 per night plus an $8.00 fee for the reservation.
Reservations: Yes, they take reservations online at: https://guestrez.megasyshms.com/DWWKH
They have several areas, not all are reservable, but the area we like to camp at most does. We like to camp at Catfish Cove.
Who we went with: 5 other couples (Lisa & Todd, Mike & Tammy, Bruce & Angie, JP and Jackie, Cara & Thomas) in their RV’s. JP & Jackie’s Granddaughter and Jackie’s Sister came with them. Lisa & Todd’s two daughters came with them.
Since both Mitch and I are both off on Friday’s we headed out about 10AM, we met Mike & Tammy there. After getting to the site and setting up, we headed to Ski Boy for lunch! They make the best hamburgers around and the shakes are to die for….you definitely want to eat there if you go to Ft. Cobb Lake! Ski Boy is located on Highway 9 at the intersection with Highway 146, if you go south out of the park past No Where, it will take you right there!
The sites we stayed in were ones down by the new bathroom in Catfish Cove. 46 (Todd & Lisa), 45 (Fonda & Mitch), 44 (Mike & Tammy), 43 (JP & Jackie) and 42 (Bruce & Angie) were the ones we stayed in. The sites each had their own water and electric. The sites are pretty shady. Site 45 is probably the largest and where we congregate for dinner. Sites 43 and 44 are pretty close together and site 42 is a double wide site with less shade than the rest of them.
The Restrooms are new and the showers are pay showers like .75 for 4 ½ minutes. There is also a washer and dryer in the new restrooms. The bathrooms and showers were always clean when we used them. I did take a shower in one of them on Sunday night, but the hot water was not working, it was a quick cold shower!
Since we have a pontoon boat in storage there, we had the boat. The guys went fishing each morning and evening and we have probably about 2 more gallon bags of catfish filets, they were running jug lines and limb lines.
We didn’t go swimming this time, it was really kind of cool and the water had allot of debris due to all the flooding. We actually had a few sites behind us booked, but they were closed down due to the flooding so we had a couple of people not come.
Saturday we went over to the driving range at the golf course and shot a few balls, Mitch and I shared a bucket of balls, were we glad we did, because there were quite a few in the baskets. You have to pay for a coin to put in the machine outside of the golf shop to get the range balls.
Saturday night we had a shrimp boil, I will post the recipe in a separate blog. And Sunday night we had a fish fry. Julie, Jimmy and Nina came over for dinner to join us!
Sunday morning several of us went and played golf. Cody, Morgan, Keith, Vonda and Gary came out and joined us on the golf course. The last 9 holes of the golf course were closed due to flooding in the area, but we played the front half. There was quite a bit of water on the course due to recent rains, but it was a fun morning and the staff were very nice and accommodating. We did book tee times ahead of time, but they were not that busy, you probably could have just walked in.
Leea and Paisley, the 4 year old granddaughter came out for the day and we went on a nice boat ride, played on the play ground which is very nice and pretty new and they stayed for dinner.
This is one of our favorite places to camp for several reasons. There is plenty of shade, the facilities are pretty new, it has a nice swim beach, playground. They have golf and fishing. You can ski and tube on the lake as well. There is a winery close by, just outside of Anadarko that you can go to on a hot day. As well, the little town of Carnegie is close and they have a nice little movie theater that is great on a hot day as well. It is a fairly quiet lake with lots to do.
Always a fun trip with friends, fellowship and great food!
