Chicken and Noodles

A family favorite at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  These are super easy chicken and noodles and taste homemade without all the fuss.

Ingredients:

1 Whole Chicken

1 – Box Chicken Broth or Chicken Bullion

½ tsp poultry seasoning

2-3 – Packages of Reames Frozen Egg Noodles

Salt and Pepper

Reames Egg Noodles

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the ingredients. Place whole chicken into a large stockpot. Sprinkle chicken with salt and poultry seasoning.
  2. Cover the chicken with water. Cover the chicken with water, filling the pot about 1 inch above the top of the chicken.
  3. Cook Chicken. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 1 1/2 hours or until the internal temperature of the chicken is 165° F. Using a slotted spoon, remove the chicken to a platter or cookie sheet. Once cooled slightly, remove the skin and chicken from the bones. Keep chicken to add to the noodles, after they have been cooked. Keep the broth in the stockpot for cooking the noodles.
  4. Return broth to boil.  Using the broth from the chicken, return the broth to boiling.  There needs to be enough broth to cover the noodles, so depending on how many bags of noodles you are cooking you may need to add either additional chicken broth or additional water and chicken bullion.
  5. Cook Noodles.  Once the broth has returned to boiling, add the Reames noodles and cook for about 15-20 minutes until the noodles are soft.  If you are going to put them in a crockpot, you can cook them to just about done, they will finish cooking in the crockpot if are going to be a while before eating them, otherwise, cook them completely. Add the Chicken into the crockpot with the noodles, salt and pepper to taste.
