What we Paid: $413.04 for the 8 nights, $51.63 per night. With water, sewer and 50 amp electric back-in site.
Reservations: Yes, they take reservations, we made reservations several months in advance.
Site: We stayed in site 1, it was a gravel pad backin site with 50 amp, water and sewer. At first I was a little disappointed being so close to the General Store – literally it was at our front door, however, the wi-fi from that site was absolutely amazing and since I was working from the RV that week, it was a great benefit!
Who we went with: This was an Anheuser Busch fishing tournament, so there were people from all over, but Mitch and I were on the only ones camping. The rest of the people were in the lodge or cabin.
The Drive down: We drove from Natchez Trace State Park to Blue Water RV Resort in Dayton Tennessee. The route we took was to keep us on 4 lane highways as much as possible, we took I-40 until we reached I-840 and took that south to Murfreesboro, where we then took I-24 to Chattanooga then took Highway 27 north to Dayton, TN. It was a beautiful drive. It was 271 Miles and we stopped at Loretta Lynn’s Kitchen for breakfast in Hurricane Mills, TN then a stop for gas in Murfreesboro, TN.
Restrooms/Bathhouses: There were restrooms with showers within walking distance of the sites. They were part of the general store and you had a key code to be able to enter. They had several showers and toilets in them. The showers are not individual showers, but a row of showers with separate doors. They were always very clean. There was a laundry room that I did use while I was there. It was $8.00 for 4 hours of use. It was the honor system, and the key was hanging on the wall under the porch of the general store with a clip board. I got up really early one morning to get the laundry done. There were two washers and two dryers, so it didn’t take long.
What we did: Mitch was in a fishing tournament from Sunday until Friday and I worked. There were other 200 boat tournaments going out several mornings and I was able to watch as they announced each boat starting at 7AM until about 8:30 AM….on a bull horn at the end of our site….OK, it wasn’t that bad and I starting enjoying watching all the different boats.
On Saturday we drove into Chattanooga and went to Rock City and Point Park. They were both full of history, but the views were just amazing….check out the video for those views!
Geocaches/Wizards Unite: There were no geocaches near the park, there was a green house near the lodge for the Wizards Unite game.
Connectivity: AT&T service was good, we were able to use the resort wifi for both work and for streaming videos, movies and youtube. I think mostly because we were so close to the camp office.
Swimming: There was a swimming pool up by the lodge, we did not use it.
Wildlife: We saw quite a few squirrels and lots of birds.
Weather: The weather was beautiful, cold in the mornings but always turned into a beautiful warm day. We did not use the heater or air conditioning. We were able to open the windows during the day for a wonderful breeze, then close them as it got cooler in the evenings.
Pros about the campsites: They were very level no need to use blocks. The people running the place were very friendly and the place was very clean and well maintained. They had rocking chairs on the porch of the general store that were a great place to relax and read. There were swings scattered through the park for people to use. There was a designated dog park, which was nice for those with dogs to be able to get off leash and run and play, it was a little small, but at least there was one. The wi-fi was very good.
Cons about the campsites: The sites were very close together.
